When should you discard your Makeup?

Have you ever wondered if your Lipstick or Powders expire?

If you have, here is your Answer. Yes they do expire.

I d be briefly sharing the shelf life of each product in your Makeup Bag.

Eyeshadows;  These last up to 3 years after which you should dispose them. Do you have any one above 3 years?

Foundation; Check your Foundation and see if it is a Water/Oil based foundation. Usually a water-based foundation will last up to 12 months, oil-based will last up to 18 months.

Lipliners; These last up to 3 years.

Concealers; Your concealer lasts for 12 months after which it should be discarded.

Powder; This can last anywhere up to 2 years and 3 months.

Eyepencils; You can use these for up to 3 years. Most of us would have finished this before then yea.

Lipstick; Okay for lipsticks, there has been a bit of controversy over it's shelf life. Some experts argue that the shelf life of a lipstick is anywhere between 1-2 years while others say it can last up to 4 years. For me i agree with the school of thought that says you should discard your lipstick once it starts to smell rancid.

MascaraThis expires the fastest as confirmed by experts: Discard after 4 months.  A school of thought suggests that you don't pump the wand in and out if you don't want your mascara to expire faster than its production date, if you do, you're only exposing the product to dry air.

Lastly ensure that you wash your Makeup Brushes or sponges weekly to prevent skin infections.

Hope you take these few tips to heart

xoxo.......
